Dr. Shani Friedman has a PhD degree from the Faculty of Law, Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a Member of the Israeli Bar Association. In addition Shani has a L.L.B from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; M.A in International Relations from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; and B.A in political science and Middle Eastern studies, Ben-Gurion University, Beer-Sheva. Shani researches various topics within the field of the Law of the Sea, which is her main field of expertise, and international institutions and the interaction between international law and international relations, including theoretical aspects.

- 2009-2011 M.A research degree in International Relations, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, wrote dissertation on th “Continental Shelf Regime in the Arctic Ocean”, under the supervision of Prof. Moshe Hirsch.
- 2006-2009 B.A degree from Ben-Gurion University in Beer-seva in politics and Government science and Middle East studies
